American Airlines and Indigo announce codeshare agreement in India

The Miami-based airline contributes $21 billion annually to South Florida and continues to add services to Latin America.

Codeshare, which will require US and Indian government approvals, is due to start in October

American Airlines has entered into a codeshare agreement with India’s leading airline IndiGo. The agreement will put the American code on IndiGo’s 29 domestic routes in India, providing a comfortable option for customers arriving on the airline’s new flights in Bengaluru and Delhi.

The codeshare, which will require US and Indian government approvals, is expected to start in October, as American Airlines introduces a new service between New York (JFK) and Delhi on October 31, and between Seattle (SEA) and Bengaluru in January. Will start , 2022.

“We look forward to adding IndiGo as our trusted partner in India,” said Vasu Raja, American Airlines Director of Revenue. “Whether our customers are traveling for business or pleasure, this new partnership makes it easy to reach all four corners of India. Today we are adding 29 new routes to our map as a result of this agreement, giving customers even more choices around the world.

Once the settlement is in place, members of American’s AA Advantage loyalty program will earn miles while traveling on the airline’s codeshare flights operated by IndiGo. Customers who are not yet a member of the program can apply online and get immediate benefits.
