Brazil beats USA in goalball challenge

Pay attention to the signs! At the Men’s International Goalball Challenge, held at the CT of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) in São Paulo, Brazil defeated the United States by an elastic score of 11 to 3. This friendly match serves as preparation for both countries for the Paralympics. Games of Paris-2024, which will start from August 28.

The United States took the lead in the first minute with a goal by Christian King early in the match. Later, Brazil equalized with a penalty taken by Emerson. In the remaining half the Brazilian players continued to get more opportunities to score goals. However, the yellow-green team had to endure a stellar defensive performance from King to keep the score at halftime.

Early in the second half, the North Americans made a foolish mistake in possession and scored an own goal. Soon after, with a beautiful penalty kick, Andre Dantas increased Brazil’s lead to 3–1, the United States scored next, but Andre scored another goal himself. He had an inspiring night as he scored his third goal at Desafío and fifth for Brazil. In the end, Parazinho (twice), Paulinho (twice), Emerson and Michel completed the country’s great victory in goalball by a margin of 11 to 3.
