A new ranking of major artificial intelligence brands has found Anthropic’s Claude has the most satisfied users, outperforming Apple Intelligence, ChatGPT and Google Gemini. The results, based on YouGov’s 2026 US AI brand rankings, focus on the experiences of current and former users rather than broader consumer preference.
Claude Leads AI Brand Satisfaction Ranking
Claude recorded the highest net Satisfaction score among current and former users, reaching 59.3. Apple Intelligence followed closely with 57.7, while OpenAI’s ChatGPT placed third at 53.5.
Google Gemini ranked fourth with a score of 51.3, followed by Perplexity AI at 49.0.
Chinese AI assistant and model platform DeepSeek came sixth with a net Satisfaction score of 47.0. Amazon’s Alexa scored 40.8, Microsoft Copilot recorded 40.6 and Apple’s Siri reached 40.4.
xAI’s Grok completed the top 10 with a net Satisfaction score of 39.0.
The results provide a different perspective from rankings based on general brand preference. Satisfaction measures the views of people who have direct experience using a particular AI product, including both current and former users.
ChatGPT Leads Preference but Claude Wins on Satisfaction
YouGov’s separate AI brand Preference ranking found ChatGPT was the clear leader among US consumers. However, Claude moves into first place when the measurement focuses specifically on how users feel about their experience with individual AI services.
The distinction suggests that market recognition and overall popularity do not necessarily translate directly into higher satisfaction among people who have actually used a product.
Apple Intelligence and Perplexity AI illustrate this difference particularly clearly. Both appeared among the five highest-ranked brands for Satisfaction despite sitting in the bottom half of the overall Preference table.
For Australian observers of the rapidly expanding AI sector, the results offer another measure of how leading global platforms are performing beyond adoption and brand awareness. While the survey examines US consumers, many of the services assessed also compete for Australian users.
DeepSeek Records Highest Satisfaction Among Current Users
Current AI Users Report Strong Satisfaction Levels
The results become more pronounced when current and former users are examined separately.
DeepSeek achieved the highest Satisfaction score among current users at 76.4, narrowly ahead of Claude at 76.0.
Apple Intelligence followed with 75.1, while Perplexity AI scored 73.4 and ChatGPT reached 72.5.
These figures indicate relatively strong satisfaction among people who continue to use the leading AI services.
The picture changes substantially among people who previously used the platforms but have since stopped.
Apple Intelligence had the highest former-user Satisfaction score at 33.5. Claude followed at 30.4, with Perplexity AI at 27.8 and DeepSeek at 27.0.
Although significantly below the scores recorded among current users, the positive figures suggest these brands retain some goodwill among people who have moved away from their services.
ChatGPT Shows Largest Satisfaction Gap
ChatGPT recorded the most significant difference between current and former users in the ranking.
Its Satisfaction score stood at 72.5 among current users but fell to -2.8 among former users, producing a 75.3-point gap.
Google Gemini also showed a substantial difference. Its score reached 69.7 among current users compared with 10.7 among former users.
Such gaps can provide an important indicator for AI companies as competition intensifies. High satisfaction among current users suggests a product is meeting expectations today, while stronger satisfaction among former users may indicate that a company retains a positive reputation even after customers move to another service.
Conversely, a large decline among former users could make those consumers more difficult to attract back as AI platforms introduce new models, features and subscription options.
AI Competition Extends Beyond Popularity
YouGov’s findings underline the distinction between being widely preferred and delivering an experience users view positively after trying a service.
ChatGPT remains the leading AI brand by overall Preference in the US rankings, but Claude’s first-place Satisfaction result shows smaller competitors can outperform better-known platforms when measured on user experience.
As AI companies continue competing for users in the US, Australia and other markets, satisfaction and the ability to retain goodwill among former customers could become increasingly important alongside adoption, brand recognition and technological capability.
