Journalist slams ‘hypocritical’ Chicago mayor for acquiring law enforcement maintain protesters off her block

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is remaining “hypocritical” by letting the Chicago Police Office to prevent protesters from demonstrating on the block where she life, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Charlie LeDuff informed “The Story” Friday night.

“In a way, I recognize. She’s fearful,” LeDuff advised host Martha MacCallum. “A person, you have a obligation to us, nevertheless, to clarify the mother nature of these threats so we can assess the necessity for this. Two — I named my men and women in the Chicago law enforcement office — you’ve obtained cops in your dwelling, you have them outside the house your dwelling. To increase that [perimeter] out is to pull cops from that district so everybody else will get a lot less, so in a way, it’s hypocritical.

“You have an 80% acceptance rating, and yet you sense beseiged by a truly vociferious minority … I just imagine at this place, it is really just not credible. You took the position. You’re not allowed to cordon off the globe when the rest of us want specifically what you want. We would like the law enforcement to respond to us. We would like professional law enforcement to protect us, and when you do it, we don’t have it. So, I guess this is up to Chicago to deal with it but if it was to be done in Detroit, the guy would be laughed out of town,” he stated.

Host Martha MacCallum said the furor reminded her of when Lightfoot defended producing a vacation to a hair salon while Chicago was beneath stay-at-residence orders due to the coronavirus pandemic in April by expressing she was the “public deal with of this metropolis.
