‘Living a dream’, says Mogi das Cruz student who has been approved for exchange in Australia

Traveling to another country is undoubtedly a dream of many Brazilians, especially those who seek personal and professional development through study. This is the reality of the girl Mogi Das Cruz Cecilia Cordeiro, 15, who will travel to Australia in early 2025. She, a student of Escola Estadual Professor Irene Caporali de Souza, is one of 500 students selected for the international exchange project. “Ready for the World”From the São Paulo State Department of Education (CEDUC-SP).

Cecilia’s mother Silvana Cordeiro explains that the young woman is studious and dedicated – especially with regard to the English language – noting that she has studied the language since the age of 11 and, therefore, the entire family is extremely proud of her. Victory.

“Cecilia really enjoys studying, is dedicated and has great potential. I encouraged and fully supported the possibility of this exchange from the beginning through the ‘Ready for the World’ program. The English language opens many doors and my daughter has the advantage of loving the language. I am sure that this experience will prove to be a turning point in terms of her knowledge of the world and the opportunities in her life”, says Silvana.

In return, the young woman explains that the opportunity to gain knowledge on another continent is something she has always dreamed of.

“I’m very excited, I’ve always dreamed of traveling outside (Brazil) since I was little. I never thought it would be so unexpected, but I studied a lot and I’m happy for that. Now that I found out I’m going to Australia, I’ve been researching everything related to the country. It is a place with beautiful beaches. I want to meet new people, speak the language I love so much, and have experiences that will change my life. I am living in a dream,” said the student.

exchange of “Ready for the World” It will last three months and will be 100% free with all costs and organization provided by the São Paulo State Education Department. In addition to air tickets, items such as personal documents (passports, visas), school registration, teaching materials, accommodation, classes, transfers within Brazil and abroad will also be covered by the State Department.

Of the English-speaking countries, Australia, Canada, Great Britain and New Zealand must receive students from the São Paulo public school system. During this period, students will be enrolled in local high schools, and will live in family homes.

A new selection will be made later this year for another 500 places in the program, with shipment scheduled for the second half of 2025.
