“It’s all here, and you can train. We have done two hours on the court and then one hour in the gym and one hour next to the other place. Then, meal time. Everything is very coordinated, everyone is well separated. And very clear: after every court, gym, everything is fruitless. Even after the hotel elevator, we use it ”, explained DoubleList from Minas Gerais.
Marcelo Mello will play both tournaments in Australia with Takao, as Dutchman Jean-Julian Roger, who is a Brazilian partner this season, will be a father in February and will not travel to Australia.
To make the tournament viable in the midst of the Kovid-19 pandemic, several protocols have been defined and need to be followed in Melbourne.
“Everything is very well organized. They have been here for 11 days with zero cases. Therefore, we have to understand this strict security protocol. Is part of it. At least we can train. Marcillo said that there is still little time to start competing and that everything is quiet, because that may be what the world is doing.
On the rest of the days, outside of those five hours, tennis players stay in hotel rooms. A routine that can only be changed after 14 days of quarantine, coinciding with the start of the tournament when they can move around in Melbourne.
