UFPE student film selected for festivals in France and the United States

The documentary Elos da Matrica, by a film student at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) (UFPE), was selected for the 17th edition of the Brasil en Mouvements festival, which will take place from October 1 to October 3 at the Cinema Les Parnaciens. , in Paris, France, and for the First Nations Film and Video Festival in Chicago, United States, from 1 to 10 November. The documentary uses archival footage of the family by Pernambuco natives and was filmed in the neighborhood of Agua Fria in Recife.

There were no public resources or private companies in production. To fulfill their desire to attend the session in person in Paris, the UFPE student is launching a crowdfunding campaign on the Wakinha platform. The target is R$10 thousand and, so far, they have collected around R$4 thousand. Elos da Matriarca portrays Neucranz’s grandmother, Luzinete Lupercina, over 25 years old, from lively family parties in the 1990s to today’s dramatic fight against the pandemic. The film is the director’s conclusion work, which combines audiovisual techniques and aesthetics in this work.
