Investing.com – United Kingdom stocks were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , , and sectors lifted shares.
The index rose 0.03% at the close in London.
The session’s best performance on the index came from stocks JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which rose 10.69% to 13.70 points, was trading at 141.85 at the close of trading. Meanwhile, shares of Tesco PLC (LON:) added 2.00%, or 6.80 points, to end the day at 346.60, and Frasers Group PLC (LON:), which advanced 1.90%, or 16.00 points, to close operations at 860.00.
The worst performing stocks of the session were Legal & General Group PLC (LON:), which fell 2.81% or 6.50 points, its shares traded at 224.50. Glencore PLC (LON:) fell 1.94% or 8.00 points to end at 405.30, and Anglo American PLC (LON:) fell 1.80% or 41.00 points to 2,236.50.
Emerging stocks outperformed negative stocks on the London Stock Exchange by 882 to 829, while 757 closed unchanged.
Tesco PLC (LON:) shares hit a 5-year high; rose 2.00% or 6.80 to 346.60.
Gold futures for December delivery fell 1.12% or 28.60 to trade at $2,518.90 a troy ounce. In other commodities, Crude oil for October delivery rose 1.92% or 1.38 to hit $73.31 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for October delivery rose 1.89% or 1.44 to trade at $77.49 a barrel.
GBP/USD was 0.01% unchanged at 1.31, while EUR/GBP was 0.34% unchanged at 0.85.
In turn, the dollar futures index declined 0.43% to 101.35.
