DOHA, 9th September, 2021 (AFP) — About 200 foreigners, including Americans, will travel from Kabul to Qatar this Thursday (9). Said in Doha.

A source familiar with the operation said: “Not all 200 are US citizens. There are also US citizens in the group that left from Kabul to Doha.”

Images shown by Al Jazeera television channel showed families waiting with their bags at Kabul airport.

“We are very grateful to Qatar,” said a traveler claiming to have a Canadian passport.

US troops evacuated 123,000 people, mostly Afghans, from the country, fearing they would be subjected to Taliban retaliation for their profession, opinion or because they had worked for foreign countries in recent years.

US officials acknowledged that even after the last troops left Afghanistan in late August, there were still people to withdraw from the country.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Qatar this week and said he had received a commitment from the Taliban to allow those who wanted to leave the country.
