After winning the FedEx Cup at the 2020 Tour Championships, Dustin Johnson was inviting his red-hot summer to the right wing foot, as a betting favorite to win the 2020 US Open. However, after 18 holes, Johnson-1 is 11th on the dodge board and Justin Thomas (4-1) is at the top.

The first of six matches to be played during the 2020-21 season, the US Open surprised many on Thursday by playing much easier than expected. This should not happen until the last three days, which means the tournament and the first big trophy of the year are still (almost) won by anyone.

Right behind Thomas, who has scored the least number of U.S. Open goals in Winged Foot history, is Rory McLaughlin (7-1), who sits behind two shots entering the leaderboard on Friday. McIlroy is going through a major drought, although fighting on the road may be the right medicine for him as he looks for his second US Open and fifth major championship.

He is coming into the top 10 in the FedEx Cup playoffs after playing well in consecutive outings to end his 2019-20 season on a high note. If Rory can start this season as his last – with six consecutive top-5 finishes – he will be in a great position to be a factor again this weekend. McIlroy has not won a major title since 2015 but is saddened by another success with the top 10 US Open in two of his last five attempts.

Tigers Woods and Phil Mickelson are not close to the top of the board after going 3 overs and 9 overs respectively in the first round. Mickelson’s cut will be a prayer, as Woods tries to do the same during the second round on Friday.

As we enter Round 2, let’s take a look at the updated DS series for the 2020 US Open, via the William Hill Sports Book. You can also check the entire slate Round 2 times On winged feet.
