Kobe Bryant honored at 43

The birthday of Kobe Bryant, who turns 43 this Monday, August 23, was marked by numerous tributes on social media. On January 26, 2020, the player died in a helicopter crash in the city of Calabasas, California.

The widow of the Los Angeles Lakers star made an Instagram post with a photo kissing next to Kobe and the NBA champion trophy, a feat she achieved five times. Vanessa wrote, “Happy birthday, Puppy. Love forever. Love forever.”

Former teammates, whether in the NBA or the US national team, also used the day to remember their relationship with Kobe.

“Happy birthday bro. Miss you,” wrote Pau Gasol, followed by the hashtag MambaForever, the star’s nickname. “Happy Birthday Brother”, published Dwyane Wade with a video of the best moments of Kobe’s career.

Tributes were followed by Carmelo Anthony, who published a photo in which he hugged Kobe, and Stephen Curry, who changed his Twitter profile picture to one of his former rival’s. LeBron James also posted some photos to Instagram Stories.

Kobe is also remembered by NFL Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson who posted on social media. “Legend forever. I miss you, Kobe. Congratulations, Mamba.”
