Pole-position on Formula 1’s final trip to Mexico, Charles Leclerc, has maintained the positivity of a good result for Ferrari at this weekend’s Mexico City GP. The Scuderia Constructors are fourth in the World Championship, 3.5 points behind rival McLaren, who are in third place.

Charles has been doing well in the US GP when he finished fourth. As for Monegasque, everything points to a good performance for the Italian team at the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, but he reiterated that 2021 has been a year of surprises in Formula 1.

“On paper, this should be a better lead for us than Austin, but it’s also true that we’ve had good and bad surprises compared to what we expected on paper, so let’s not care too much about it.” Let’s just focus on your work, but it should be a stronger race for us than the other teams in the middle pack,” he commented.

McLaren is currently the third force in Formula 1, with Daniel Ricciardo winning the Italian GP. However, Woking’s team has seen Ferrari lose the advantage in the last few races. Leclerc highlights the high level of opponents, but sees Scuderia as very strong and with the potential to steal a spot in the top-3.

“We’re still chasing them, we’re not at the fore, so it’s going to be very tough because they’re a very strong team, they’ve been very consistent from the start of the year, so it won’t be easy, but as I said, we Have been working well as a team since the beginning of the year. Every time we’ve brought updates, they’ve gone in the right direction, so it feels good again. We have to try and make everything perfect till the end. of the season, and I believe we have a chance to overtake them in the championship,” he concluded.
