Cameron Smith lit up St Andrews in the scorching afternoon sun to lead The Open 2022, while Tiger Woods missed the cut and waved goodbye during a thrilling ride through 18th at St Andrews.

Rory McIlroy is still hunting at -10, three behind Australia’s Smith (-13), who birdied his first three holes and dipped a long, curved eagle putt into a flawless 64 on the 14th green en route Took three more shots first.

Night leader Cameron Young is the closest challenger at 11-under, two shots ahead of Dustin Johnson. While world number one Scotty Schaffler suffered another blow with Briton Tyrell Hatton.
