US President Joe Biden said on Friday that social networking platforms such as Facebook are “killing people” by allowing false information about the coronavirus vaccine to be posted on their platforms.

“They’re killing people… Look, the only pandemic we have is without vaccination. And they’re killing people,” Biden told White House reporters when asked about the misinformation and social media. What was his message for the platform.

False information about COVID-19 was spread during the pandemic on social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, owned by Alphabet. Researchers and lawmakers have long accused Facebook of not controlling harmful content on its platform.

The company has set rules against specific false claims about COVID-19 and vaccines, and says it provides people with reliable information on these topics.

“We will not be dissuaded from allegations that are not supported by facts,” Facebook spokesman Kevin McAllister said on Friday. “The fact that more than 2 billion people have viewed official information about COVID-19 and vaccines on Facebook is more than anywhere else on the Internet.”

Twitter and YouTube did not respond to requests for comment.
