Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’s current contract with Tottenham is valid until June 2022, meaning the athlete can sign with any other team from January at zero cost. The 35-year-old Frenchman’s renewal is yet to be confirmed, but coach Antonio Conte believes the goalkeeper will remain in the squad for next season.
, Hugo is a Tottenham player, he is the captain. He will certainly speak to the club to try to find a solution. Am I cool about this? Conte said.
Despite the positive expectations from the Tottenham coach, the UK press has already highlighted that the club’s board of directors has other priorities. In addition, renewing the available option for the goalkeeper position is part of the managers’ plans. “Sportsmail” revealed last month that Spurs were eyeing West Bromwich goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
Furthermore, there is no question of Loris returning to French football. The goalkeeper has already been earmarked as a possible reinforcement for Nice, the club that revealed him to football. Lloris also had a spell at Lyon before hitting Tottenham in the 2012/13 season. Even though he has no news of his position as a goalkeeper, Conte hopes for reinforcements in other areas.
, Absolutely (hopefully reinforcement). After just two weeks I said we need to improve the quality of this team and we certainly do. I have already assessed who I can trust and whom I cannot. Is the difference huge and do we need to work harder and try to build and improve our team? Conte rated.
Tottenham return to the field for the 21st round of the Premier League this Saturday (01), 12 noon (GMT) as they travel to Watford. The team is currently ranked 6th in the competition with 30 points.
