On the last day of the G20 summit meetings in Rome, Italy, this Sunday (31 October), leaders visited one of Rome’s most famous tourist destinations, the Fontava di Trevi.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, however, did not attend the event. He visited the memorial on Friday (29/20) with Counselor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ), his son who accompanies him at the event.
In front of the Fontana di Trevi, which has existed since 1730, leaders took photographs together and threw coins into the fountain, a tradition that dates back to the 19th century for fortune telling.
The leaders tossed in a euro coin specially made for the event, which bears the image of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.
Isolated, Bolsonaro is one of the only leaders not on the agenda Planned meetings with other heads of state.
