The man, who had tested positive for Covid-19 and was unable to travel, managed to deceive the airport authorities by presenting his wife’s papers, along with her negative PCR test. The case happened in late June and was reported yesterday by CNN Indonesia.

The search for “DW” came only after a flight attendant noticed that a purported woman had entered the plane’s bathroom and a man had left without her place minutes later. She doubted the identity of “DW” and reported to security.

When he tried to land at Sultan Babuullah airport, the authorities asked for his PCR test, which was no longer disguised and had to show a positive test result.

“Following the positive results of COVID-19, the airport immediately contacted Ternate City’s COVID-19 Task Force team to evacuate using personal protective equipment,” explained Combs Adip, Head of Public Affairs for Northern Maluku .

“DW” will be examined by the police when he finishes his period of social isolation and conducts a COVID-19 test with a negative result.
