Traveling to another country is, undoubtedly, the dream of many Brazilians, especially those trying to succeed in life through studies. This is the reality of the young Pouense Bruna de Souza Silva, 15 years old, who will travel to Australia in early 2025. She, who is a student at the Escola Estadual Margarida de Camillis, located in the Vila Varela neighborhood in Poa, is one of the 500 students selected for the international exchange project. “Ready for the world”From the São Paulo State Department of Education (Seduc-SP).
This year, the student created a technology study club with the theme “game criticism” and, even though she studies in the afternoon, she arrives at school early to attend English classes. Bruna has been studying all year to complete the first evaluation of the Provao Paulista Serriado, an initiative that guarantees direct places at university and that allows students to make up grades for three grades of high school.
“I think that, through Provao, I would like to continue my training in the arts, or even take a dubbing course. I would also like to open my own business, a café”, she says. “If I am not selected for the exchange, I will try other ways to access the international study travel program”, says the young woman.
Of the English-speaking countries, Australia, Canada, Great Britain and New Zealand must receive students from the São Paulo public school system. During this period, students will be enrolled in local high schools, and they will live in family homes.

The “Ready for the World” exchange will last three months and will be 100% free, with all costs and organization provided by the São Paulo State Education Department. Things like personal documents (passport, visa), school registration, learning materials, accommodation, classes, transfers in Brazil and abroad, and airline tickets will be covered by the State Department.
