4.5 meter snake 'explodes' after swallowing whole cow

The 15-foot-long python “exploded” after swallowing a whole cow. The case took place on Saturday (21) in the Phitsanulok province of northern Thailand.

The reptile was found by a farmer in the area, who was looking for a cow that had disappeared from his property for three days. But according to the British tabloid The Sun, the man has already found two animals dead.

In the images recorded by the farmer, the snake is seen with a hole in its body, through which it is also possible to see the mortal remains of the cow.

Experts interviewed by Thai media said they believe the reptile’s stomach was torn apart after ingesting a large amount of cow’s meat.

A village official identified by The Sun as Nirun Leevattanakul said the python was starving when he saw the cow, opting to strangle the animal and swallow it whole.

“But after the cow died inside the snake, its body swelled up and made the snake’s stomach grow even more,” said the man, adding that the sight found by the farmer was “horrifying”.

According to the tabloid, National Geographic claims that a snake known as Burmese python found in Thailand is capable of digesting up to twice its weight in food. It is found in Southwest and Southeast Asia.
