Xbox Series X and PC retain RT functionality.

Codemasters decided to take what they call a “difficult decision” and temporarily removed the ray tracing feature from the PlayStation 5 version of F1 2021 in an effort to improve performance on this console.

Update 1.04 was made available for the console and according to information on the official website, the studio found that the ray tracking technology was causing problems with the PS5 version’s performance and therefore temporarily disabled the effect.

The company says the problem only occurred on a limited number of PS5 players, but decided to act accordingly.

Codemasters now wants to reactivate ray tracing as soon as possible and will share the news with players as soon as something becomes known about it. However, the effect of the Xbox Serie X and PC versions is still active as they do not appear to have the same issues.

The update also fixed an issue that could have caused corrupt saves when editing vehicle paintwork in MyTeam HQ.
