Video shows panic among passengers in turbulent flight over the Andes

A video posted on social media recorded the moment a plane flying over the Andes Mountains that divides Argentina and Chile got stuck in strong turbulence, shaking heavily. In the background, you can hear the screams of despair from the frightened passengers at the prospect of the plane crashing.

The images shared by DJ and influencer Nico Valorani on TikTok have garnered over 6.6 million views, 953 thousand likes and nearly 12 thousand comments. In the record, it is possible to see how the plane’s wing swayed and shook and the audio reveals the weather that characterizes the voyage.

“What would you do if this happened to you?”, the DJ asked in the post. Although the images show only the outer landscape, i.e. the high peaks of the Andes mountain range, the audio gives an idea of the reaction of the passengers on board.

“Mommy, I want to come downstairs”, shouts a woman loudly. Each time the plane vibrates, the screams intensified. “We’re all going to die,” shouts one woman.

In the comments of the post, many people make fun of the situation. One user wrote, ‘It is common to fall in Ushuaia if the wind is blowing. “There is always this turbulence in flight to Patagonia; winds, even more so in Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego”, assures another.

“I went through a storm once and I think lightning hit the plane,” one follower teased. But the truth is that while answering the question of the DJ, many believe that he must have screamed in the same way as the women whose voice can be heard in the video when the plane moves.

Strong winds over the Andes mountain range

The images were recorded by Nico on 12 June during a trip from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, Argentina. They say that turbulence is considered normal in part flying over the Andes mountain range due to strong winds recorded on the highest peaks, which can reach altitudes of about 7,000 metres.

Despite the scare, no one was hurt and the plane landed safely in Ushuaia. The next day, Nico posted a video in which he said that he was fine, that everyone got through well and that he was only concerned about a woman and her son, who were sitting behind him, who were screaming because they Was very scared.

“They were desperate, poor people, screaming a lot. The woman kept telling the plane to come down. But this kind of thing is common when you fly. That’s why I tell everyone if one day this happens to you.” Don’t be afraid. Just be calm that everything will pass”.
