About 16 elephants living in China can be considered “nomadic”. This is because more than a year ago they went out roaming in groups and never stopped. According to India Times, the mammals have traveled more than 500 km.

Many conversations related to elephants are seen on social media. There are already more than 200 million interactions on the Weibo website about “travel”.

According to the Indian website, wild animals enter homes and farms in search of food. The group has already invaded an old men’s house, with one of them hiding under a bed.

The elephant is a symbol-filled animal in China, and that is why the government has urged people not to scare them with fireworks and other tricks that could put them at risk.

The adventure began in Yunnan Province and is now in Kunming, where it all began. Some experts suspect that the elephants may have lost their way to the leader of the group.

Despite the damage worth more than R$5 million, some made fun of the situation. One YouTube user wrote, “We should be like elephants and be more family oriented, take leave and help, take care and protect each other.”

A statement issued by the Kunming government yesterday said the elephants are resting while being monitored by a team of 410 guards and 14 drones. Residents of the area currently inhabited by the group were evacuated to safer places.

The aim of the authorities is to create favorable conditions for the elephants to migrate to the south-western region of the country.
